Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) Endorses GMA (Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo) Watch
After hearing the moving story of Edith Burgos, the mother of abducted land reform and farmers’ advocate Jonas Burgos, the National Executive Board of the Asian-Pacific American Labor Alliance unanimously voted to endorse GMA Watch, a US based Philippine human rights monitoring network. Mrs. Burgos spoke to APALA as part of a seven city US speaking tour organized by GMA Watch, which raised awareness about the 890 politically motivated extrajudicial killings and more than 300 disappearances which have been committed presumably by the Philippine military under the presidency of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Rice crisis is the Arroyo government’s own doing, can be her undoing Scientists recommend price control, policies to for food security and self-sufficiency

Rodolfo Noel I. Lozada, Jr., 45, CEO of the Philippine Forest Corporation, surfaced at the La Salle Greenhills campus early morning today and implicated former Commission on Elections chair Benjamin Abalos Sr and First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo in the anomalous ZTE deal.
Lozada is an electronics and communications engineer and former chief executive officer of the Philippine Forest Corporation who served as a technical consultant to former Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Romulo Neri on the national broadband project. Read the rest of this entry »

Ang labintatlong (13) taon na ang RA 7942 o Mining Act of 1995 ay nagdulot ng pagkasira sa kagubatan, pagpatag sa mga bundok, pagkalason ng yamang tubig at pagkasira sa buhay at kabuhayan ng mamamayan. Subalit ayon sa nag-isponsor ng batas na ito na si Gng. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo na noo’y senador pa lamang, ang batas na ito raw ang magbibigay daan sa industriyalisasyon ng pagmimina sa bansa. Subalit sa labintatlong taong pagiging epektibo ng batas na ito wala pa rin makitang pag-unlad sa industriya ng pagmimina sa bansa at lalong nalulugmok sa komunoy ng kahirapan ang mga mamamayang nakatira sa mga lugar kung saan isinasagawa ang pandarambong sa ating likas yaman.
